How does Dr. Madow determine a patient's diagnosis?

Dr. Madow conducts a full psychiatric interview with each patient and is able to deter-mine the diagnosis by thoroughly synthesizing all the responses he obtains into a com-prehensive mental-health overview. He has decades of experience in diagnosing pa-tients' conditions and prescribing a course or courses of action for them to improve their situation.

Does the patient return to the office after Dr. Madow makes the diagnosis?

Dr. Madow requires each patient to return to the office on a regular basis if he has prescribed medication. The interval between appointments is determined by the patient's degree of stability as well as the type of medication prescribed.

Will Dr. Madow coordinate care with my primary care physician?

Yes. With the patient's written authorization Dr. Madow will contact the primary care physician so they can work together to achieve the optimum level of recovery for the patient.

Will Dr. Madow coordinate care with my therapist?

Yes. Dr. Madow works with psychotherapists to augment the level of care the patient receives.

I don't have a therapist at this time. Can Dr. Madow refer me to one?

Yes. Dr. Madow works with numerous psychotherapists in the greater Las Vegas and Henderson areas. In selected cases Dr. Madow can also provide psychotherapy.

How long is a medication management visit?

All medication management visits are fifteen minutes or less at all psychiatrists' of-fices.

How long is a psychotherapy visit?

Forty-five minutes.

How does Dr. Madow determine what kind of condition(s) a patient has?

Dr. Madow performs a complete psychiatric evaluation, which consists of a verbal interview with the patient about the chief complaint, medical history, family history, psychosocial history, and a mental status examination. At the conclusion, he will determine the appropriate course of action.

How long does it take for the medication to work?

All psychotropic medication requires at least 4-6 weeks to take effect. Does the patient have to go back to see Dr. Madow after the initial visit? Yes, Dr. Madow requires all patients follow up with him on a regular basis as long as they are taking medications he prescribes. Follow-up visits are typically 15 minutes or less, which is standard at most psychiatrists' offices.

    No. Dr. Madow sees patients by appointment only. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, call 911 immediately or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.
